Cold Coffee

Remember when cold coffee was a bad thing? Like, your cup o' coffee had been sitting on your desk too long and now it was cold and icky?

But then, cold coffee drinks came into vogue, and now my cup of hot coffee can transform in just a few hours to a delicious cold beverage! Isn't that weird?

Not really a rant because I actually like when this happens.

The New American Employment Model

aka "free labor" aka "volunteers" aka "unpaid interns" aka BULLSHIT!!

The Rant On-er (hereafter known as tROer) has decided to try the 3rd person narrative technique. If tROer finds it easy to use, tROer will continue to do so. Else, not.

tROer has for quite some time now been disturbed by the increase in the use of free labor in this country.

BTW, so far tROer is finding this 3rd person thing uncomfortable.

In this shitty economy, people keep justifying the volunteer model as necessary for some completely illogical reason. Yeah, money is tight. Yeah, resources are limited. What better way to stimulate a shitty economy than to actually REDUCE the number of paid jobs! I mean, c'mon, it is frikken brilliant, isn't it?

I--er, tROer--has seen this malevolent phenomenon creeping ever-so-stealthily into more and more workplaces. "Wonderful!" proclaims the bosses who can get yet more work for less money. "Fantastic!" they shout, as they let yet another paid employee go "because we can't afford you" while Unpaid-Intern (UI) gets his foot in the door while living with his parents or off his spouse or whatever.

And we wonder why this country is going to hell in a handbasket? Wake up sheeple.

Ever wonder whether there is any connection between one "UI" and another?

A Kindred Spirit

So I randomlyish went roaming about and stumbled upon this blog:

Why Me?

and after I read a little bit and found myself laughing at the author, I looked at the date of the most recent post:

and then I knew it: I had found a kindred spirit.

Rajesh J Advani, if you ever manage to find this post, please update your blog. If I can do it, so can you

...and Speaking of Bullshit...

To those of you (yes, all two of you. You know who you are) who inquire about this domain and suggest that there is some sort of pot-of-gold at the end of some rainbow somewhere, if only I would consider selling this domain name to you, I say: unless there are at least 6 figures involved, AND one of those figures is a 1 followed by several zeros, don't even think about it. And commas and decimal points don't count as figures.

Update: did I say 6 figures? I meant 10.
